We must never lose sight of the remarkable opportunity afforded to us by higher education. RIT gives its student the opportunity to mature as individuals and then supplies the necessary knowledge to fulfill their unique aspirations. But without reflection we too quickly become habituated to our academic surroundings and the potential they entail. Responsibilities that begin as avenues for self-expression will in time develop into thankless tasks if we forget our constant agency in their continuation. By attending this university we have risen to the challenge of self-actualization and our every action is an emerging expression of that commitment. If we perceive our situation as merely a means to satisfy some external obligation, be it economic, social, or cultural, we have misunderstood our primal agency in the creation of these systems. College education is a process of individuation not homogenization, and as the few able to partake in this exclusive opportunity, we must always keep that in mind.

The efforts of the Innovation Squad will be a testament to the abundant possibility for personal growth and self-expression with which RIT has provided its students.
